Evans County

Evans County is a growing community with a diverse economy, welcoming atmosphere, and hometown charm. Located in the southeastern portion of the state of Georgia, as of the 2012 census, the population was 10,689.
Manufacturing, healthcare, education, social service, retail, and construction are the primary sectors of employment. Agriculture is also important to the area with corn, cotton, and carrots being major crops. Wheat and soybean fields dot the landscape separated by tall pines and fertile orchards. Claxton, the county seat, is best known as the fruitcake capital of the world. Evans County has a weekly paper, The Claxton Enterprise, two local radio stations, WCLA (1470 AM) and WMCD (107.3 FM), as well as its own hospital, Evans Memorial.
